10 AM - 11 AM EDT

Location of the Event/Workshop:

Brief Description of Event:
Typically, musicians are taught a great deal about the music, composers and musical instruments they play – and very little about their own physicality. Musicianship requires humanity – and this “blind spot” blocking a full appreciation for a musicians’ physical self and movement can be a contributing factor to the alarmingly high rates of both repetitive stress injuries and performance anxiety amongst musicians. Luckily, learning about the structures and movements of your own self can lead to increased technical prowess, while simultaneously unleashing expressivity and increasing a musicians’ ability to enjoy music-making. This workshop is freely offered - donations welcomed. Together we will explore:· Why embodiment matters for musicians· Practical tips for how to facilitate embodied learning in lessons· Healthy posture alternatives to “sit up straight”· Mindful movement warmups for musicians· Solutions for your favorite teaching challenges

This is a FREE workshop/event!
