BylawsIf war is the violent resolution of conflict, then peace is not the absence of conflict, but rather, the ability to resolve conflict without violence. - C.T. Butler ATI’s Bylaws were written by the ATI history and charter members of ATI. All changes and additions to the Bylaws are voted on at the ATI Annual Conference, using the Formal Consensus process. This process allows the entire membership to have say in the shaping of Bylaw changes or additions after all members have contributed to and voted on final wording. Formal Consensus is a structured group decision making process developed by C.T. Lawrence Butler and Amy Rothstein. The Formal Consensus Committee refined the use of this method for ATI. This decision making process considers the whole and not just leadership, therefore creating a cooperative dynamic. Only one proposal is considered at a time. Everyone works together to make it the best possible decision for the group. Any concerns are raised and resolved, sometimes one by one, until all voices are heard. Since proposals are no longer the property of the presenter, a solution can be created more cooperatively. |
