Connect Up

Whether you are an experienced practitioner or a beginner to the Alexander Technique, constructive rest can be a useful addition to your day – it is a way to prepare or recover. In this workshop, you will learn to tune into and find support for your musculoskeletal system while at rest. This will set you up to take care of yourself during more active moments. You will be encouraged to approach yourself and the lying down practice with curiosity and play. Ideas about making connections and taking advantage of external support might be especially relevant to hypermobile people, although they will work for anyone. 

This constructive rest workshop introduces a simple and practical tool that can be easily integrated into your daily life. It can help you manage pain and stress, improve your posture and overall functioning, and be more present with yourself and what you need in every moment. There are no downsides to practising constructive rest, and it is hard to get wrong. This simple lying down practice can be a tool that you use just when you need it, or it can unlock a transformative and sustainable way of living, supported by the Alexander Technique.

Der Körper ist ein Wunderwerk - lernen wir ihn schmerzfrei, mühelos und effizient zu gebrauchen. Ich lade sie herzlich ein zu einer 40- minütigen Einführung in die Grundgedanken der `Alexander Technik`Die Art und Weise, wie wir Dinge tun beeinflusst die Ergebnisse, die wir erzielen.Die Alexander-Technik ist eine Methode, durch welche Menschen ihre persönlichen Fähigkeiten und Aktivitäten weiterentwickeln können. Es handelt sich um einen Bildungsprozess, der seit über 100 Jahren weltweit angewendet wird. Viele haben die Technik genutzt, um ihr Wohlbefinden zu verbessern und ihre Leistung und Effizienz zu steigern. Wer lernt, innezuhalten und sich Zeit zu nehmen um konstruktiv darüber nachzudenken, wie er sich im Alltag einsetzt, wird feststellen, dass dieses einfache Verfahren weitreichende Ergebnisse haben kann. Die Neuorganisation von anstrengenden Denken- und Haltungsgewohnheiten ermöglicht eine verbesserte Beweglichkeit, Haltung, Leistungsfähigkeit und Wachsamkeit sowie die Linderung von Steifheit, Anspannung und Stress.

Menschen lernen die Alexander-Technik aus verschiedenen Gründen:

  • um eine bessere bewusste Kontrolle über die eigenen Reaktionen zu erlangen
  • um die Verbesserung ihrer Leistungsfähigkeit durch eine verbesserte persönliche Präsenz, Atmung, Stimmbildung sowie Geschwindigkeit und Genauigkeit der Bewegungen zu erleben
  • um eine bessere Koordination des neuromuskuloskelettalen Systems zu lernen welches hilft, Beschwerden und Schmerzen zu lindern.

The Body is a Marvel

I cordially invite you to a 40-minute introduction to the basic principles of the Alexander Technique.

The way we do things influences the results we achieve. The Alexander Technique is a method that enables people to develop their personal abilities and activities. It is an educational process that has been used worldwide for over 100 years. Many people have used the technique to improve their well-being and increase their performance and efficiency. Those who learn to pause and take time to think constructively about how they engage in everyday life will find that this simple process can have far-reaching results. Reorganizing strenuous thinking and posture habits enables improved mobility, posture, performance, and alertness, as well as relief from stiffness, tension, and stress.

People learn the Alexander Technique for various reasons:

  • to gain better conscious control over their own reactions
  • to experience improved performance through improved personal presence, breathing, voice production, and speed and accuracy of movement
  • to learn better coordination of the neuromusculoskeletal system, which helps to alleviate discomfort and pain

Introduction to Alexander Technique Workshop

This will be an Introduction to Alexander Technique Workshop that will highlight the basic principles of the technique. I will attempt to recreate an Alexander Technique lesson online. We will start with a simple lying down activity and go into other simple games or challenges. The workshop is specifically designed for people with no Alexander Technique experience, although people with prior training are welcome to attend. I will attempt to create an Alexander Technique group lesson setting online. It is advisable for people who have no previous experience in the technique to attend so that they can familiarise themselves with the basic principles of the technique. We will work from principle, going deep into F.M. Alexander's writings so as to really understand the core principles of the technique. However, instead of too much verbal communication, we will rely on practical tools and activities to familiarise ourselves with these basic principles.
